The IV Region of Coquimbo, named "Norte Chico", is located in the northern part of Chile. Its capital is La Serena, founded in 1544, being one of the oldest town of Chile, with beautiful colonial architecture. Coquimbo is the main port of the region, located 12 km. south from La Serena, its name in indian language means "quiet waters" and in the old time was scenery of pirates and corsairs adventures leading to the legend of a fabulous treasure buried in some place of the numerous bays and more than 50 km. of magnificent sandy beaches.
